3 Day Budget Safari in Murchison
Murchison Falls is the biggest national park in Uganda with an area of 3840sqkm.The River Nile divides the park into North and South sectors and forms the impressive Murchison Falls where it flows over the Western Rift Valley escarpment. Here the river is forced through a seven metre wide gap in the rocks and cascades down a steep 43 metre drop.
Leave Kampala and travel for about 4 hours stopping over at Masindi town for lunch. From Masindi the drive is another 2 hours to the park. Drive to the park with an afternoon game drive via Budongo Forest. Early evening arrive at Red Chili Camp located at the bank of the River Nile. Dinner and overnight at Red Chili.
Take an early breakfast as you leave and drive to the northern part of the park for a game drive. You will see elephants, buffaloes, oribis, bushbucks, lions, girafees, and a variety of bird species. After lunch, go for a two-hour launch trip up to the bottom of the Murchison falls where appalling water squeezes through the narrow gorge. This gives you an opportunity to see Uganda's hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds along the river banks. You then return to the camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive to view the top of Murchison Falls with a guided morning hike. From the hike drive out of the park and have lunch in Masindi. You then drive back to Kampala at leisure arriving late in the evening.
